Iceland
I drove around and across the island in a 4×4—from the Ring Road to the rugged highlands. Throughout the journey, I was constantly accompanied by the overwhelming feeling of entering a land that is still in the process of being formed. It is the eternal struggle between the heat of the Earth’s mantle and the icy silence of the glaciers from which everything springs: turquoise-blue icebergs on black volcanic sand, waterfalls plunging down beside bizarre basalt columns. The colors are intense and unpredictable, a backdrop against which humans seem vanishingly small. Every moment reveals only a tiny glimpse of something infinitely greater.
